CE Marking is regulated by different norms, called "directives" and "regulations". Depending on the particular product, its characteristics, functions, destination, and so on, one or more directives and regulations can apply, as stated in each directive/regulation.
On each of these norms, are also indicated relevant exceptions of applicability and "exceptions of exceptions" (yes, it is not that easy as it seems...). If no one of these directives and regulations applies, the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) applies, in any case.
Norms related to CE Marking are:
- Directive on active implantable medical devices
- Regulation on appliances burning gaseous fuels, also called "Gas Appliances Regulation" (GAR)
- Regulation on cableway installations
- Construction Products Regulation (CPR)
- Directive on the Ecodesign of energy related products and relevant implementing measures
- Directive on electromagnetic compatibility, also called "EMC Directive"
- ATEX Directive (Equipment and protective systems for potentially explosive atmospheres)
- Directive on explosives for civil use
- Directive on hot water boilers
- Regulation on in vitro diagnostic medical devices
- Directive on lifts
- Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
- Machinery Directive (MD)
- Directive on measuring instruments
- Directive on Medical Devices (MDD)
- Directive on noise emission in the environment
- Directive on non-automatic weighing instruments
- Regulation on personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Pressure equipment directive (PED)
- Directive on pyrotechnic articles
- Radio Equipment Directive (RED)
- Directive on recreational craft and personal watercraft
- Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS)

Do you need help for CE Marking?
How we help manufacturers, distributors and importers:
We offer consulting on CE marking to manufacturers, distributors and importers. This also includes:
- identification of the obligations for your specific products
- technical support in preparing the necessary documentation
- consultancy for the identification and implementation of safety measures (e.g.: selection of safe materials and components, design changes for safety, addition of protections, photocells and interlocks, safety operating procedures, personal protection equipment, affixing written warnings and pictograms, etc.).
How we help customers:
In addition to indirectly helping consumers by offering advice to manufacturers to market safe products, we provide support to consumers by providing them with information about the meaning of the CE marking and useful advice on how to choose compliant and therefore safer products.
